This is the ninth part in a series, so if you have not already done so, you might want to read Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI, Part VII, and Part VIII before continuing.
“How’d it go?”
“I think it went well.”
“You think it went well?”
“I mean, I can’t speak for Siobhan, but I enjoyed myself. I’ll definitely be asking her out again.”
“Really? That’s great. So, what’s she like?”
“She’s cool. She’s funny. She’s really smart.” He paused and inclined his head to one side, then said, “A little judgmental, but then again, what are first dates for if not judging the other person?”
Henry raised an eyebrow. “A judgmental bitch? You do not want to deal with that.”
“Don’t call her that.”
Henry’s other eyebrow rose to join its partner. “Oh, already defending her honor. This is serious.”
“It’s not. It was just one date.”
“One date with a cool, funny, smart, judgmental non-bitch. Yeah, you’re right. Doesn’t sound dangerous at all.”
“Weren’t you the one encouraging me to go out with her in the first place? Why are you suddenly changing your tune?”
Henry shrugged. “I just thought it was time for you to get out of the apartment and start seeing other people. I didn’t mean for you to get married.”
“I’m not getting married. It was one date. And what do you mean, it’s time for me to start seeing other people? I’ve been seeing other people.”
Henry rolled his eyes. “Social media doesn’t count. You needed to have a real conversation with a real, live woman, in person, before you forgot how.” He paused, looking his friend over. “Oh, god. You didn’t forget how, did you? Did you totally mess this up? Is she fully creeped out by you?”
Josh dropped his head into his hands. “First I’m supposed to go out with her, even though I thought it was dumb. Then I’m not supposed to go out with her again. Now I’ve ruined my chances of going out with her again? Would you make up your mind?”
“Hey, it’s not my fault you’re a total creep who’s doomed to die alone.”
Josh threw his hands in the air in defeat, leaving the room and heading to the kitchen to make himself a sandwich.
To be continued…
