This is the seventh part in a series, so if you have not already done so, you might want to read Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, and Part VI before continuing.
Siobhan smiled. “I don’t know. Haven’t decided yet. So, what do you do for a living?”
Josh almost got whiplash from how quickly she changed the subject. “Why? Do our chances of getting a second date depend on my having a good job?”
“Not a good job, per se, but it can’t be a terrible job. It does have to be a job.”
Josh laughed. “Fair enough. I’m a personal trainer. It’s why my profile picture was a selfie I took at the gym. That’s where I work.”
Siobhan nodded as it all clicked into place. “That makes a lot more sense.”
“More sense than what?”
“Well, it’s just that usually the only guys who take selfies of themselves at the gym are either gay and/or narcissists, so that photo gave me pause.”
Josh almost spit out his coffee. “I had never heard that before.”
“Oh, it’s true. There have been studies done about it and everything.” She said it with a completely straight face, but there was laughter in her eyes as she looked at him over her cup while taking another sip of her coffee.
His eyes narrowed as he tried to figure out this girl. “So, what about you? What do you do for a living?”
“By day I’m a telemarketer, and by night I’m finishing up my degree in Psychology.”
Josh made a face. “Ugh! Telemarketers are the worst!”
Siobhan shrugged. “Yeah, I know, but it pays the bills.”
“Just tell me one thing: why do you always call during dinner?”
“Because that’s when people tend to be home.”
“But how do you even know the exact moment when people are sitting down to their dinners? How do you always manage to time it so perfectly?”
Siobhan leaned forward, as if confiding a secret. “Mind powers,” she said softly.
Josh laughed and that was when he knew there was going to be a second date.
To be continued…
