FGFGFGFGFGFGFGFGFG: Part VIII

wedding

This is the eighth part in a series, so if you have not already done so, you might want to read Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI, and Part VII before continuing.

“Soooooooo? How did it go?”

“Way to play it cool,” Siobhan said, looking askance at her roommate, who was sitting cross legged on their living room couch.

“Oh, come on, you know I’ve never been good at playing it cool. It’s a key reason why I can’t get a date of my own.”

Jessica snorted, unable to deny the truth of that statement. “It actually went pretty well.”

“OMG. You’re into him.”

“I just met the guy.”

“You’re smiling.”

“It was a good date.”

“A good first date and you’re smiling. Should I start planning the wedding now?”

Siobhan rolled her eyes. “And, again, we see why you can’t get a date.”

Jessica shrugged. “I just haven’t found a woman who’s as marriage focused as I am. She’s out there. I just have to find her.” Jessica turned her head to look out the window with a dramatically wistful look on her face.

Siobhan threw a pillow at her.

“Hey!”

“We were talking about me and my dating life, remember?”

“Oh, so you want to talk about it!” Jessica managed to leap up, uncross her legs in the air, and land back on the couch (closer to Siobhan) with her legs folded neatly under her. Siobhan tried not to laugh as she watched her roommate’s acrobatics, but she also thought it might be time for her to pick up yoga. It was clearly working for one of them.

“I don’t know. I mean, he seemed pretty cool. Not nearly as conceited as his profile pic suggested.”

“Are you sure he’s not gay?”

Siobhan thought about it. “I didn’t pick up any gay vibes from him, but I suppose one never knows. Anyway, he said he took his selfie there because that’s where he works. He’s a personal trainer.”

“So, he’s definitely gay.”

Siobhan whacked her friend with another pillow.

“Hey, don’t kill the messenger.”

“Not all personal trainers are gay.”

“I suppose you’re right. One or two of them are bi.”

Siobhan laughed. “Would you stop? You were the one who convinced me to go on the date in the first place and now it sounds like you’re trying to talk me out of seeing him again.”

Both of Jessica’s arms shot out to grip Siobhan’s upper arm as Jessica got really close, her eyes as wide as a hopeful anime character. “You mean there’s going to be a second date?”

“I don’t know,” Siobhan said, shrugging her arm out of her friend’s grip. “I think so. I mean, if he wants to.”

Jessica tipped and fell backwards onto the couch, going limp in a pretty good imitation of a fainting lady.

“Now you’re back to wanting me to go out with him? Mixed signals, much?”

“You two will have beautiful gay children together.”

Siobhan rolled her eyes and got up to get herself a drink. She loved Jessica, but she could be so exhausting sometimes.
