This is the fifth part in a series, so if you have not already done so, you might want to read Part I, Part II, Part III, and Part IV before continuing.
Sarah was on her way to her Intro to Psych class when her phone buzzed.
BRTINEY: What do you think of a play written entirely in verse?
SARAH: Like Hamilton?
BRITNEY: More like Shakespeare. Somewhere in between, I guess.
Sarah started to type her response, but the dotted bubble appeared, so she waited.
BRITNEY: Do you think I could write a play in verse?
SARAH: I think you can do anything.
BRITNEY: Now you’re just sucking up.
Sarah laughed and was in the middle of searching for the right emoji for her response when she almost collided with what appeared to be a wall of chest muscle.
“Whoa, what’s so funny about ramming into your TA?”
“I’m so sorry.” Sarah said as she silently cursed herself. Of all the people to embarrass herself in front of, it had to be the cute TA.
“No worries. But, seriously, what’s so funny?”
“Oh, just texting Britney about writing a play in verse.”
Blaine’s eyes lit up. “Like Hamilton? That would be awesome! I didn’t know you were a writer as well as an actress.”
“Yeah,” Sarah said before she knew what she was doing. “I’m actually hoping to become a playwright so I can write my own roles.”
“That’s so dope!”
“I know, right?”
“So, what’s the play about?”
Sarah drew a blank, so she decided to play coy. “I don’t really like to talk about my writing while it’s still a work in process.”
“Of course. Gotta respect the process.”
“Thank you. I appreciate that.”
“Well, if you get to the point where you do want another pair of eyes on it, I’d love to take a look.”
Sarah’s heart leapt up and danced a little jig inside her chest. “That would be so great. You’ll be my first call.”
“Great. See you in acting class.”
“Yep. See you there,” Sarah said, then waited until he had turned around to do a victory fist pump.
To be continued…
