This is the sixteenth part in a series, so if you have not already done so, you might want to read Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI, Part VII, Part VIII, Part IX, Part X, Part XI, Part XII, Part XIII, Part XIV, and Part XV before continuing.
“Hey, so I just got the chance to catch up on your show, and OMG is that really the season finale?”
“Yep.”
Angela whistled. “Good thing you guys got renewed for another season or the fans would be seriously pissed. Including me.”
“It doesn’t matter what we do. They always get pissed off anyway.”
It took Eliza’s uncharacteristically cynical words for Angela to register the despondent tone she had been using. “Uh oh. What’s wrong? You haven’t been on Twitter again, have you?”
“Maybe.”
“Eliza, you know what a terrible idea that is. Put it away.”
“I kinda had to when you called.”
“Good. Don’t you dare open it up again after I hang up. I’ll stay on the phone with you all night if I have to.”
“I think you’re forgetting that I’ve become a night owl, whereas you have to get up at an ungodly hour tomorrow morning.”
“Doesn’t matter. I’ve pulled all nighters before and I can do it again.”
“What if I hang up on you?”
“I’ll call back and keep calling. So even if you don’t pick up, my beautiful face will keep popping up to distract you from those awful haters.”
“What if I block your number?”
“First of all, we both know you would never do that, so don’t even try to bluff your way through that one. Second of all, I would call 911.”
“Making a phony 911 call is illegal, and although I know you can afford the fine, there are better ways to spend your money.”
“It wouldn’t be phony. I am legitimately concerned about your mental state. So I suggest you stay on the phone with me unless you want the LAPD busting down your door.”
Eliza giggled. “That would give Twitter something to talk about.”
“I can see the headlines now: Rising Starlet Attempts Suicide. Hey, it would probably boost your career.”
Eliza snorted. “Yeah, and then everyone would treat me with kid gloves.”
“You could make all sorts of outrageous demands and they would have to meet every single one of them, because if they don’t, it just might be the thing to send you over the edge.”
“You are a terrible human being.”
“I know, but it’s why you love me.”
“I suppose that’s true.”
“Feeling better?”
“Much.”
“And you’re going to stay off Twitter?”
“Definitely.”
“Good. Then I’m hanging up. I have to get up at an ungodly hour tomorrow morning.”
To be continued…
