This is the eleventh part in a series, so if you have not already done so, you might want to read Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI, Part VII, Part VIII, Part IX, and Part X.
As expected, the comments only got worse after Lilah’s first TV appearance:
It’s too bad her bitch of a boss had that first comment taken down. That guy was just doing a public service. What ever happened to free speech?
GMA is advertising that they’ll have her on their show next week, so at least we know where she’ll be next…
That last one made Lilah nervous. Not only did it contain the same thinly veiled threat of the comment that had started all this, but now she was no longer the only one being threatened. She called her contact at the studio to warn them.
“Are you saying you don’t want to do the show?”
“Of course, I want to do the show. I’m just giving you a heads up that now your set is a potential target and I don’t want you or anyone you work with to get hurt because of me.”
There was silence for a minute while the producer processed this. Lilah felt her stomach slowly sinking towards the floor. She hadn’t realized how much she had been looking forward to this – to speaking her truth out loud and opening the way for other women to talk about their experiences. It was exhilarating, but she wasn’t sure it was worth anyone’s life.
Finally, the producer said, “What if we had you call in, instead of physically coming here to the studio?”
Lilah perked up. Why hadn’t she thought of that? “You would do that for me?”
“Of course. You already know the guidelines for dressing for TV, so we won’t have to send a stylist over. We just need you to have your computer ready so we can call you up when it’s time for your segment.”
Lilah breathed a sigh of relief. “That would be wonderful. Thank you so much for understanding.”
“No problem. I’ll email you in the next few minutes with the details.”
To be continued…
