Short Story

Your Reflection

broken vintage mirror

Walking past a reflective surface

Out of the corner of my eye

I see your face

Your form

I look again

And see only my own

What am I supposed to do with that?

Sitting with a book

Or waiting in traffic

My nails click against each other

Just like yours used to

What am I supposed to do with that?

It’s been half a decade

And I still find myself looking for you.

How am I supposed to move on

When I see you every time I look in the mirror?

What am I supposed to do with that?
