Dunson House: Part I

dunson house

This was the end.

He had put up with enough from her, and he wasn’t going to take any more of her shit.

She had changed the locks, but he wasn’t going to let that stop him. He was going to get in, one way or another, and when he did, he was going to make her regret everything she had ever said or done to him. Then he would finish her off, once and for all.

As it happened, getting in wasn’t that hard. Forcing her onto the bed wasn’t hard either. She struggled some, and he let her – he enjoyed the fight. Enjoyed the terror in her eyes mixed with anger. But in the end, it wasn’t that much of a fight. He had always been able to overpower her, and he enjoyed that, too.

After that, all he had to do was cover her mouth while he taught her a lesson. He knew she had told the neighbors to be on the lookout for him, and he didn’t want to risk alerting any of them to the work he had to do here. It was why he had come in the back door, which she had luckily left unlocked for him.

He was going to wait until afterwards to finish her off, but just as he was about to climax, inspiration struck, and he decided he would be better off slicing her throat immediately. It turned out to be nothing less than a stroke of genius as his body responded to the sight of her blood pouring out of her. It was only moments before the light left her eyes and he finished at the exact same time.

He smiled, remembering something she had told him once about how the poets had referred to it as “death” some centuries ago. She had always been such a nerd when it came to useless stuff like that. He had thought it stupid at the time, but now he thought he finally understood it as he made his way to the bathroom to wash off.

He turned the water as hot as it would go and stood under it for as long as he could stand it, rubbing and scraping all traces of her from his body. Then he carefully dried himself off, got dressed, and left the way he had come, closing the door behind him.

As tempting as it was, he didn’t dare stick around to watch the police arrive once someone realized what had happened. Some of her neighbors were joggers, and he didn’t want to risk one of them recognizing him and getting suspicious. It was better for him to stay away from the house for now.

But that didn’t mean he couldn’t keep an eye on the news and social media. He obsessively switched between news channels and refreshed his social media feeds until he finally saw the headline he was looking for. He wasn’t even worried about investigators seeing how closely he followed the investigation when they checked his phone. There was nothing unusual about a man following the murder investigation of his ex-wife.
