Agatha’s frustration grew as she watched newcomers come after her and ascend before her.

It’s a good thing Agatha had never had a firm faith, because no faith she knew of could have prepared her for this.

I don’t know what they were smoking when they thought some divine being was talking to them, but clearly they didn’t get everything right.
