From Beyond the Grave: Part II

beautiful girl sleeping on a cloud

This is the second part in a series, so if you have not already done so, you might want to read Part I before continuing.

TW: brief mention of suicide attempt

It turns out there are a few ways the dead can get messages across to the living.

In the case of Scarlett’s mom being huffy with her son-in-law, she had such a strong emotional reaction to what he was doing that the emotion was able to be felt in other realms, specifically by the cause of that emotion.

Scarlett was already so furious with her children she’d be surprised if they couldn’t sense it already.

But apparently that wasn’t enough because it wasn’t having the desired effect.

She needed them to know why she was upset, and she needed to get them back together.

Fortunately, her Aunt Hilda had some experience with communicating more directly with her kids through their dreams.

She showed Scarlett how to get into someone’s dreams, at which point she’d be able to say whatever she needed to say to them. All Scarlett had to do was wait for Susan to start dreaming.

She kept her eyes on the prize and didn’t do anything else until Susan started dreaming, at which point she grabbed her chance.

She lost no time getting in there and making it clear to Susan that she would call her brother and apologize for whatever had gone wrong. No matter what needed to be done to repair this rift, Susan had to do it, or her mother would haunt her for the rest of her days.

Satisfied she had gotten her message across, Scarlett waited until Susan had woken up before paying a visit to make sure she did as she was told.

Instead, Susan woke up angry. She yelled at her bedroom ceiling, which was ridiculous because Scarlett was standing right in front of her.

“Nice try, Mom, but I am done being the one who always apologizes. I tried to kill myself because of that asshole, so, no, I’m not going to try to repair a relationship with someone who makes me walk into traffic.”

Scarlett was stunned. She had had no idea. How had she not known her own daughter had done such a thing?

This. Changes. Everything.

To be continued…
