Poetry Short Story

Another World

Earth in the foreground with the moon in the background

There’s a world

In which I offered you my condolences.

But my own pain

Was still too fresh

Too raw.

You refused me.

Refused to let me be your sister,

Refused to let me be his aunt.

So I pretended it wasn’t happening.

There’s a world

In which I offered you my congratulations.

But this distance

Has become habit.

You made your decision

More than a year ago.

You don’t want me in your life,

And I’m better off Without her in mine.
