This is the second part in a series, so if you have not already done so, you might want to read Part I before continuing.
The next time she saw Chris, Sandra didn’t give him her usual smile. Instead, scanning the hallway to make sure they were alone, she pulled him into an empty classroom. Once inside, she shut the door and pulled down all the curtains. She had a reputation to maintain after all.
“What’s this all about?”
“Has my brother offered you a job yet?” Sandra asked as she stole one last glance out the window to make sure they hadn’t been spotted. Then she turned to face Chris, whereupon she saw his wicked grin. “Wipe that grin off your face. That’s not what this is.”
“It’s not?” The grin vanished.
“No, idiot. My brother. Has he offered you a job?” She spoke the last words very slowly, as though talking to someone very stupid.
“No. Why?”
“Because he’s going to, and I need you to be amazing at it.”
“Why? I don’t even know what this job is. What if I don’t want it?”
Sandra took a deep breath and counted to 10 before answering. “It’s a job with the biggest real estate developer on this side of the Atlantic. If you do this job well, you can move up the ranks, and be running the company by the time you’re 30.”
“Really? You really think I could run a company?”
“Only if you impress my brother, and that’s easier said than done. So, you’re going to take the job, and then you’re going to do everything I say, got it?”
He took a step closer to her so they were barely an inch apart. “And what are you going to do to make it worth my while?”
Sandra held his gaze for a moment. After a quick glance at the door, she quickly walked over, pulled down the shade on the door’s window, strode back to Chris, grabbed his head in both hands, and gave him a kiss he would not soon forget.
Pulling abruptly out of the embrace, she said, “You’ll get your next kiss when you get promoted.”
To be continued…
