Oooo! Water bowl!
Bobbi had to stop and get a drink. It was just too hot outside today.
The water was hot.
It must have been sitting out in the sun for too long.
Bobbi took a few sips anyway, then paused. She still needed the water, even if she would have preferred for it to be cold water. As she hesitated, she spotted something. Just a few inches from the water bowl was a pizza crust.
Bobbi took a few more sips of water as she considered what to do. Mom hated it when Bobbi ate food off the ground, but if she was fast enough…
Quick as she could, Bobbi went straight from the water to the crust and snatched it up! Ha!
Uh oh. Mom had seen and she was not happy about it, but it was too late. Bobbi had already swallowed her forbidden treat.
She trotted ahead of Mom as much as she could on the leash, keeping her head down until Mom’s temper blew over.
As they approached the corner, Bobbi headed in the direction of the store she knew left a bowl of treats sitting out by the door. She almost made it, too, but just as they got to the corner, Mom caught on to what she was doing. She yanked on the leash, yelling, “No, we are not going that way!”
They turned right instead, heading past the park. Bobbi trotted ahead of Mom, knowing better than to try to argue her point this time.
They passed another human, but Bobbi didn’t think anything of it until a few minutes later when the human started whistling. Bobbi turned around to see what she was doing, but Mom didn’t slow down.
Finally, after several whistles, Mom glanced back and the other human started yelling at her. Something about not being very nice and how she should be grateful.
What was she talking about?
Mom yelled at the woman to mind her own business and started walking a little faster.
The human behind them did not pick up speed, but she kept yelling at them. Something about how to train your pet with love rather than fear.
Did she think Bobbi didn’t have her human well trained? What the hell did she know?
Mom kept yelling back at the other human and Bobbi started to get upset. She hated it when Mom got mad, and it was even worse when she yelled. It made her insides all rumbly.
Bobbi picked up speed, just trying to get out of there. When they reached the next corner, she turned, hoping the other human wouldn’t follow them. Bobbi immediately sat down, knowing Mom was more likely to follow her lead when Bobbi sat at the curb right away.
Sure enough, Mom turned with Bobbi, gave the word to cross the street, and they continued on the path Bobbi had chosen while the loud human went another.
And she thought Bobbi didn’t know how to train her human. Ha!
